Romans 12:21
The whole chapter of Romans 12, tells us how to accomplish this last verse.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
“Overcome” is a verb. It is an action word. When it comes to good and evil, or light and darkness, you either overcome evil and darkness, or you are overcome by it.
Why does God’s Word tell us this? It is a reminder that we have a choice. A reminder that we need the power of the Spirit of God within us.
The account of David and Goliath illustrate this perfectly. Without God’s power, little David would have been overcome. He knew that. But with God’s power within David, even Goliath had to fall. To be filled up with God’s power, we need to spend time with Him. Just like it takes time to fill our cars with gas, it takes time to be filled with the Spirit if God.
Here’s the deal.. You gotta DO IT! Move. Take action. Fill up with the Spirit if God, and He will equip you with the armor and weapons to overcome the evil, who tries to overcome you.
Father, help me and my friends to be overcomers today. Fill us with your Spirit. Allow us the great privilege to conquer evil, and walk in freedom and victory today.
