Philippians 3:13-14
In today’s text, I sense Paul’s unending determination to end his journey well, with Christ, on this earth. I see 4 powerful things for success:
1) He acknowledged that he had not yet “arrived”. He knew there was still work for the Lord to do in him.
2) He forgets the past – both accomplishments and failures. He was saying do not spend your time looking in the rear view mirror. The past is gone.
3) He writes “straining forward” and “I press on”. These are both powerful words of focused energy in action. Determination.
4) He has his eyes, his heart, his head, his body, everything he is,.. his whole being,.. pushing toward the “goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus”. What an example for us to follow!
The future is bright! I KNOW what the future holds! Friend do you know what the future holds? Does your life reflect that? Are you confident in that? Then.. let me encourage you today to “press on” toward that goal!Father, help us today to keep our eyes on you, and to press on toward the goal of your upward call in Christ Jesus!
Verses 13-14 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
