Hebrews 12: 1-2
“The Race” The writer of Hebrews had just written about those faith heroes from days past. Now, in this text, he is encouraging the reader to run the “race of life” effectively, in Christ.
It reminds me of the marathon runners today. Just as the runner is dressed in the bare minimum, light weight clothing, In my spiritual race, I am to let go and resist every weight and sin, that holds me back. Let it go.. Just as the runner develops endurance by running, I am to be consistent in Bible study, prayer, worship, and fellowship. Keep running.. And just as the runner reaches for that nice, cold, nourishing, refreshing bottle of water from their support person, as they get tired and thirsty, as they run without stopping.. I am to reach for Jesus.
He is my source.
He is my joy.
He is my peace.
He is my strength.
He is my living water.
He is my endurance.
He is my protector.
HE IS MY EVERYTHING.
I wonder this morning.. is He your all? He wants to run along with you, and hand you strength.. hand you joy.. hand you encouragement.. Keep going.. Keep going. You can do it. You can do it. He is right there with you. Run with Him. Oh.. He loves you..
Verses 1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
