Matthew 18: 5-6

A little child..

The creator and master of the universe gives new life, and cares about the little child. This could refer to young believes as well. Jesus is pointing toward the influence we have on others, especially the physically and spiritually young ones, who are humble and teachable.

Parents especially, should take note here. You are accountable to God how you raise your kids. What you teach them about Jesus. What character traits you teach by example. What sins you lead them toward.

God is the author of life.Both physical life and spiritual life.

He has placed the young among us.

A child naturally has an energy about him. It is refreshing to see.Friends, let’s make sure we are nurturing to that child, and to that new convert to Christ. Value that zeal.. Encourage that hope.. Do not discourage their enthusiasm.. And for your sake and theirs, lead them away from sin, not toward it…

verses 5-6. “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
