Luke 12: 15

We have a problem in America. It is exposed in today’s text, and in today’s heart.

We want more.. We want better.. We want.. We want..

God has blessed our country beyond any other.. He has given us prosperity. He has protected us. He has given us world power. And America has forsaken Him. We are now under His judgement.It’s the human problem. Our sinful nature has dominated us, as a country. I point to others.. You point to others.. It’s their fault.. We talk about them.. Then, all of a sudden, the devil has us in his grip.. He laughs when we focus on others. We become Pharisees.. Can I encourage you today my friend, to examine your own heart this morning? What is it that captures your desires? Money.. power.. possessions.. ? This text says “be on your guard” for a reason. We are so easily distracted..

So Father, we need your help again. We need your Spirit to rise up in us to check our hearts.. Thank you for sending Jesus to rescue us from ourselves.

Verse 15 And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
