Matthew 12: 36-37

This reminds us that there is a judgement day coming. Everyone will be judged before a holy God. It also reminds us that the words we speak are being recorded. Kinda like a journal entry in a checkbook register. One day our “word account” will be weighed and balanced. Why does Jesus say “by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned”? Because He said earlier, that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.. What is already in your heart, comes out.

Wow..

Do the words I speak reflect the Spirit of Christ within me? Do the words I speak give evidence of my salvation? It seems to me, that our words are like “evidence” in a courtroom.. Could it be, that if my words are not good, but evil, that is evidence that I am not really saved??

It seems so..

Here is one more opportunity for me to examine myself, by the words I speak. Whatever I put in.. must come out. What am I consuming with my ears and eyes? Is good going in? Am I consuming God’s Word?

Child of God, let me encourage you today to speak life, speak truth, speak love, speak to build up, not tear down. That is what will naturally come out if Christ is King in my life.. Father, I need you to rise up within me and my friends today. Speak through me, and forgive me for all the words I have spoken that do not please you. Thank you that I am already justified, so that I will not be condemned.. Thank you for Jesus, who took my sins away..

Verses 36-37 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
