John 13: 34
The “mark”. In John 13:34, Jesus is speaking to all His apostles, after supper, right after He had washed their feet. But this is after Judas had left. I want you to notice… Jesus had washed Judas’s feet – He served him. But He did not tell him to “love one another”… Judas had already left. I wonder why? Because Jesus knew Judas would betray Him. He knew that Judas would not be part of the New Testament church. He was telling these apostles that loving one another, would be the “mark” of the New Testament church. It would be how insiders and outsiders would recognize His true followers.
I wonder… are you a part of that New Testament church? Do you have the “mark”? Do you love the brothers and sisters where you worship? Do you love them in word and deed? Do you?
Father, help me and my friends today, to have the “mark”. The mark of your great love among us. Help us to let that mark of love shine so brightly that the world can tell.. Thank you for Jesus who took my sin away….
Verse 34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.”
