John 1: 16

In today’s text, we see John’s simple words that carry remarkable weight.”from His fullness” is about Jesus, who is God’s abundance to us – His fullness come down to us. Then, he writes about receiving “grace upon grace”. That is the abundance of grace. There are no more words greater, and so to emphasize it, he repeats it twice (a common way in the Greek, to multiply and compound a word’s meaning). Abundant, multiplied grace is God, giving us blessing, rescue, and forgiveness, that we do not deserve… I read a story about a bird, who flew into a small room, and was trapped in the room. The owner had compassion on the bird, because it was trapped, so he opened the door, but the bird was so afraid, that it would not fly to the door to escape certain starvation and death in the little room. The owner thought “if only I could become a bird to show it the way out, I could help the little bird to escape it’s certain death”. That, my friend, is what God did for us. He became flesh to show us the way out of certain destruction. That is the fullness of God. That is grace upon grace.

Won’t you follow Him today? Man!! He loves you… and He proved it, by becoming a man, living a perfect, sinless life, and taking my place, and taking your place, on that old cross. He paid the penalty for my sin and your sin, for us, so that we could be rescued… He has opened the door, and walked through suffering and death for you…

Father, oh.. thank you for your great grace and love for us. We need you today. Help me and my friends to follow you today, with great praise, and great passion. Thank you for Jesus, who paid for our sin, so we could be free…

Verse 16 “And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.”
