Welcome. My prayer is that each of these devotionals is a blessing to you and encourage you in your walk with Jesus or help to lead you to Him.

1 Timothy 6: 17-18

Paul wrote to Timothy that the love of money is the root of all evil, then begins to give him instruction about the rich among him, which applies to us today. And before we discount this to the “rich” among us, remember this… that most Americans, even if poor by American standards are the richest people in the world… First, he writes of pride in our riches. The wealthy tend to get the “I’m better than you” attitude. Do you do that?

Then, he writes about the hope or trust we have in riches. Remember the rich man? He was all set to lay back and enjoy life, but that life was snatched away from Him, and he would suffer in Hell for his life lived trusting in his money, and someone else would enjoy his wealth on this earth.

Then, he expresses how to use the wealth that God has allowed you to have. Do good works with wealth. And be generous and share. I wonder today… how many of us use our wealth to do good works? I wonder how many, even in the church who could say “I am generous”? Do I help others? Do I give to the church above and beyond? Did you know… that’s a sign of where your trust lies.. in what you give away? I’ve heard it said that you can only take to Heaven with you, that which you give away… Friend, are you laying up treasures on this earth, or are you sending it on ahead of you to Heaven?

Father, we need your help today. Help us to be obedient. Help us to be generous. Help us to be Christ-like today.I ask for your Spirit to rise up in me and my friends today. I pray that our trust would be in you… Thank you again for Jesus who paid it all, on that cross, and shed His blood, to take my sins away..

Verse 17 “As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,”
