Philippians 4: 6-7
There are many things that can cause us to be anxious today. So why would God’s Word say “do not be anxious”?What??? Are you kidding? With all the crazy going on around us? Is this the humor of God?? No. This is however, the power of God!! Let’s look at the rest… He says “but”… I love it when God says “but”… “In everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving” Then.. “and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”
Can you see the formula? It goes like this: Prayer + Thanksgiving – anxiousness = peace. I will have to admit, when I worry, it is always a result of forgetting this formula.
Let me ask you… What are you anxious about? Have you entered the first action in the formula? Or do you not have time to pray? Not have time!?
Listen child of God, when you leave out a major component of peace, it will evade you.. You will not have joy if you do not have peace. You will not have love if you do not have peace. And you will not have peace without trusting God enough to go to Him.. Trust Him today. Lay it all down at the foot of the cross. After all, that’s where He purchased your peace…
Father, we need you again today… Help me and my friends to trust you in prayer. Thank you for your promise, your formula, for peace beyond all understanding. Thank you for Jesus, who purchased peace for us, and took our sin away..
Verse 6 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
