Job 38: 4-7
This morning we see part of the Lord’s response to Job, as Job was questioning God. It was a response that clearly shows God in all His magnificent glory, His creative thoughts, His great power to begin and end, His ability to start and stop measurements and time itself…
Job was a good man, even a righteous man, but he was still a man, a created being, a product of God’s blessings. He did not understand why hard times had come. He forgot that he deserved Hell, but God rescued him.
I wonder… Do I ever get to the place, during hard times, when I question God? That little three letter word… God “why” did you let this happen…? God “why” didn’t you stop that…? God “why” didn’t you heal…? God “why” didn’t you hear my prayer…? God “why”….
I think sometimes we forget 3 things: 1) God is God, and He is holy. 2) All things, He works for our good. 3) We are not God.
I am His creation, and He loves me. You are His creation, and He loves you. Nothing, “nothing” happens to you or to me, that does not first flow through His hands. He is the refiner. We are the silver. We are His workmanship, created by Him, and He is not finished with me or you yet. Anything that comes, as hard as it might be, is for our good eternally. That understanding friends, is the only way that we can praise Him in good times and bad. Won’t you praise Him today?
Father, thank you for sending your Son to endure the cross, so that we could be set free from our sin. Fill me and my friends with your Spirit today, so we can see your love more clearly.
Verses 4. “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. 5. Who determined its measurements–surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? 6. On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, 7. when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”
