Genesis 12: 2 -3
We must remember that we take all scripture in context of its surrounding text.. In v.1, God gave Abram a command. That’s why we see v.2 beginning with “and”. God was saying “if” you follow my command, then v.2 will come into promise. Then, we see in v.4, that Abram did follow God’s command, so we know that God’s promise came to Abram and all people.
Did you know friend, that the same is true with us today? When we are faithful to be obedient to our Father in Heaven, then Heaven’s blessings flow down to us. But wait… God doesn’t speak to us today, the same way He spoke to Abram…That may be true, but He does speak to us. The problem is that many do not listen.
How do we listen? The Bible is God’s Word sent down to us. We listen to Him when we read His Word, the Bible.. and we talk to Him when we pray. The Bible is written by 40 different men, inspired by the Spirit of God, over 1,500 years, yet is us one complete story of redemption. A miracle in itself! Do you want the promises of God? Then turn to Him. He is the promise maker, and He is the promise keeper!
Father, thank you for your promises to me and my friends. Help us today to be obedient to your Word. Give us a desire, a hunger for you, and your Word. Thank you for Jesus, who took our sins away.
Verse 2 “And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
