James 1: 5
Today’s text was written to believing Jews, who were scattered because of persecution in Jerusalem. There were in hard times. If there is one thing that believers needed then and now, it is wisdom from God. To say there seems to be a deficit today, is an understatement. It seems that many are spouting something, but in many cases, it is far from wisdom.
What are we to do? Complain? Protest? Gossip? Worry? Hide? (I would like to sometimes) No! Let us go to God, and His Word. He tells us not to do any of these things. We are to gain wisdom to know how to speak – to know how to live in these times. “Let him ask God..”
I wonder… when’s the last time you went to God for wisdom? Let me encourage you to do that today. And while you’re there…. thank Him for Jesus. Thank Him for saving you. Thank Him for loving you. Worship Him with all you are. He is worthy to be praised today!
Verse 5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”
